Apple CEO Teases Major Product Launches Next Week, Including Touchscreen MacBook Pro

Date:

Apple is gearing up for a week of major product announcements, after CEO Tim Cook dropped a tantalising hint on social media. The tech giant will host three “Special Experiences” for the media on Wednesday in Shanghai, London, and New York, fuelling speculation about several new devices.

Cook shared a six-second video on X showing a hand swiping across a grey surface before pinching and pulling to reveal the Apple logo. He captioned it, “A big week ahead. It all starts Monday morning!” along with the #AppleLaunch hashtag, sparking widespread excitement online. Fans immediately speculated about a touchscreen MacBook Pro, with some jokingly calling the clip a dopamine hit.

According to Bloomberg’s Apple analyst Mark Gurman, one of the new devices will indeed be a MacBook Pro with a touchscreen interface. The laptop is expected to retain a full keyboard and large trackpad, while introducing a dynamic user interface that adapts depending on whether the user is touching the screen or using a pointer. When touched, controls will appear around the user’s finger, potentially explaining the gesture Cook demonstrated in his teaser.

Beyond the MacBook Pro, Apple is rumoured to unveil several other products, including a new entry-level iPad, the iPhone 17, and a budget-friendly MacBook aimed at students. Gurman notes that the student MacBook, code-named J700, will cost under $1,000 and feature a sub-13-inch aluminium chassis. Apple has reportedly developed a faster and more cost-effective process for forging the metal shells, ensuring a premium feel despite the lower price point.

The student-focused MacBook is expected to come in bright colours such as light yellow, green, blue, pink, silver, and dark grey, although not all shades may make it to market.

Apple fans won’t have to wait long to find out if these rumours are accurate. The “Special Experiences” on Wednesday promise to reveal the full lineup of new devices, and updates will be streamed globally, keeping enthusiasts on the edge of their seats.

With multiple launches anticipated, Apple’s upcoming week could mark one of its most exciting product announcements in recent years, blending innovative technology with stylish, accessible options for students and professionals alike.
