PAS MP Urges Malaysia To Take Legal Action Against Donald Trump Over Iran Conflict

Date:

A PAS Member of Parliament has called on the Malaysian government to consider legal action against former US President Donald Trump over the ongoing conflict involving Iran.

The proposal was raised in the Dewan Rakyat on March 2 by PAS Arau MP Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim. Shahidan said he had received a phone call from a Malaysian currently in an Arab country, claiming that US and Israeli negotiations were not intended to achieve peace but were part of a strategy to wait for military assets before launching attacks.

Citing this, Shahidan urged the government to refer Trump to the International Criminal Court. He also questioned why Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other leaders involved in military decisions were not similarly held accountable.

Shahidan further raised concerns over Saudi Arabia’s response, reporting that the kingdom had stated it would defend itself and launch a counterattack if attacked. He suggested that Malaysia could consider sending a minister to the Gulf region—avoiding sea travel due to the ongoing conflict—to clarify that certain strikes were targeted at specific bases, not Gulf countries as a whole.

During the same parliamentary sitting, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim tabled an emergency motion condemning the military actions by the United States and Israel against Iran, stating that they violated the principles of the United Nations Charter.

Malaysia’s Parliament is among the first national legislatures to openly criticise the escalation of the conflict, signalling strong opposition to the military strikes.
