A female administrative staff member at a dental clinic in Taiwan has accused the clinic director of secretly filming female employees with a camera placed under a computer desk.
The allegation was made public on 28 February by the employee, surnamed Jian, on social media platform Threads. She described the situation as “super weird and disgusting,” noting that clinic assistants and front-desk staff often wear short skirts. Jian said the camera appeared to have been installed for some time, and employees only discovered it recently because they rarely looked under the desks. She expressed concerns about reporting the matter to police while continuing to work at the clinic, noting that some clinic doctors were acquainted with local officers.
The clinic, Jingxin United Dental Clinic, responded the same day with a Facebook statement denying any wrongdoing. They said the camera under the counter was intended solely to monitor the cash deposit box for daily reconciliation and had never been used to record employees. Police inspections reportedly confirmed that the camera was non-operational, lacked a memory or SIM card, and no footage was found on computers or staff mobile devices.
Despite this, police confiscated the camera, associated wiring, and a mobile phone, and plan to summon clinic director Ding for questioning and to collect his fingerprints and DNA. Jian has filed charges alleging sexual invasion of privacy, false imagery, and privacy violations.
The clinic has requested that the employee remove her post to prevent public speculation and warned that legal action will follow if false claims continue.
