A notorious gang leader with a long criminal history was shot dead in a police shootout early this morning along Jalan Bukit Tunku in Kuala Lumpur.
Bukit Aman’s acting Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director, Fadil Marsus, confirmed that the 36-year-old suspect had 44 prior criminal records, ranging from house break-ins to drug trafficking. He was believed to be the mastermind behind a syndicate operating across Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, and Perak.
The deadly exchange occurred around 4:10am during a special operation jointly carried out by Bukit Aman’s CID and the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters, according to Harian Metro.
Police also seized a pistol believed to have been used by the suspect during the shootout. Investigations are ongoing to locate and apprehend other members of the gang still at large.
