Actress And Husband Re-Arrested Over Alleged Cattle Investment Scam

Date:

Police have re-arrested a local actress and her husband to assist in investigations into an alleged investment scam involving the sale of cattle.

Fadil Marsus, the Kuala Lumpur police chief, said the couple was detained by the Commercial Crime Investigation Division from the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters.

“The actress and her husband were arrested by the Commercial Crime Investigation Division of Dang Wangi police in connection with an investment scheme related to cattle sales,” he said in a statement on Monday.

He added that both suspects are expected to be brought to court today for a remand application to facilitate further investigation.

Arrest At Tahfiz Centre

Last Wednesday, the pair were initially detained at their hiding place in a tahfiz religious school located along Jalan Kuari Sungai Long, Batu 11, Kampung Sungai Serai in Hulu Langat, Selangor.

Their arrest followed a police report lodged by a 56-year-old businessman in Seremban who claimed he was deceived in a land-related investment deal involving “tanah kurnia” lots in Selangor, resulting in losses of approximately RM1.5 million.

Earlier Remand For Land Scam Probe

According to Azahar Abdul Rahim, the Seremban district police chief, the couple had previously been remanded for three days until March 7 to assist investigations under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating.

Authorities believe the case is part of a broader investigation into alleged fraudulent investment schemes that have reportedly targeted victims with promises of lucrative returns.

Also Linked To Fake Honours Title Case

Earlier media reports also revealed that the actress and her husband are being investigated in a separate case involving an alleged scam offering fake honorary titles, which caused losses of around RM23,000.

Azahar said the Seremban district police first received a report related to the case on Dec 18 last year.

The couple’s remand was later extended by an additional day to allow investigators to complete their inquiries as police continue to examine multiple complaints linked to the suspects.
