A college student died after sustaining severe injuries, reportedly from a machete strike to the neck, in an incident that occurred in Teluk Intan, Perak, Malaysia today.
Hiliran Perak District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Dr Bakri Zainal Abidin, said the 18-year-old male student was pronounced dead at the scene, while another 17-year-old college friend sustained injuries to his hand and is receiving treatment.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the incident occurred when a long-handled machete carried by a man riding a motorcycle struck the victim’s neck. The victim was also riding a motorcycle at the time,” he said in a statement this evening.
Following the incident, police detained two foreign nationals, aged 39 and 52, to assist with the investigation. Authorities also seized the machete and a motorcycle linked to the case.
The case is being investigated under Section 304A of the Penal Code. Both suspects are scheduled to be brought before the Teluk Intan Magistrate’s Court for a remand application to facilitate further investigation.
