A 56-year-old woman and her 22-year-old nephew were critically injured after being stabbed by the woman’s brother in their home at Taman Bandar Baru, Kampar, Perak yesterday.
Kampar District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohamad Nazri Daud, said authorities received a report of the incident from the woman at around 7.35pm.
Investigations revealed that the attack took place in the living room of the two-storey house shared by the suspect and both victims. Both the woman and her nephew sustained three stab wounds to the left side of the neck. They have been rushed to Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun and are currently in critical condition.
The suspect, a 58-year-old unemployed man, suffered injuries to his left palm during the incident. Police believe the attack stemmed from the suspect experiencing hallucinations; he has a history of psychiatric treatment at Hospital Fatimah, Perak.
He has been referred to Hospital Tanjung Rambutan for further evaluation, and the case has been classified under Section 326 of the Penal Code.
