Malaysia Schools To Receive Extra Aidilfitri Holidays In 2026 Academic Calendar

Date:

The Education Ministry has announced extra holidays in the 2026 Academic Calendar to coincide with Aidilfitri, set to fall on March 21, giving students, teachers, and parents more time for festive travel and preparations.

Schools in Group A, which include Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu, will start their additional leave on March 19 (Thursday).

Meanwhile, Group B schools—covering Melaka, Johor, Negri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Penang, Sabah, Sarawak, Selangor, and the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, and Putrajaya—will observe two extra holidays on March 19 and March 20.

The Aidilfitri break coincides with the Term 1 holidays, extending the festive rest period.

Group A students will enjoy a nine-day break from March 20 to March 28, while Group B schools will have their term break from March 21 to March 29.
