Malaysia Pledges Support To Kuwait And Oman Amid West Asia Tensions

Date:

Malaysia has reaffirmed its support and solidarity with Kuwait and Oman as regional tensions escalate in West Asia.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim shared Malaysia’s message during separate meetings with Kuwait’s Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi.

Anwar expressed Malaysia’s sympathies as both nations face challenges concerning their sovereignty and national security, while also commending their efforts to protect Malaysian citizens residing in their countries.

In a statement, the Prime Minister highlighted Oman’s role in mediating between the United States and Iran, noting that all parties agreed the conflict should be resolved peacefully. Emphasis was also placed on exercising restraint to prevent further destabilisation in the region.

The discussions come in the wake of heightened hostilities following Israeli and US strikes on Iran, which were met with retaliatory attacks from Tehran targeting US interests in Gulf states.
