Pahang Police Issue 627 Fireworks Permits Ahead of Aidilfitri, Monitor Compliance

Date:

Pahang police have approved 627 permits for the sale of fireworks and firecrackers to traders during the Aidilfitri festive season.

State Police Chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman revealed that out of 648 applications received, 19 were rejected for various reasons, while two are still under review.

Inspections and ongoing monitoring have led to four arrests and seizures involving traders who violated regulations, including selling fireworks without a valid permit.

“Police continuously monitor traders to ensure they comply with the rules and only sell approved fireworks,” Yahaya said during the launch of the PDRM Tanjung Putra 188 (PTP 188) Fun Run & Fun Ride 2026 in Kuantan on Tuesday.

In other updates, Yahaya noted that authorities are still awaiting reports from several agencies, including chemical analyses, to conclude investigations into the tragic deaths of five family members in Taman Cerating Damai on February 17. Statements from family members and other individuals have been recorded, but the case remains classified as sudden death (SDR).

Regarding the PTP 188 Fun Run & Fun Ride 2026, scheduled for May 23 at Padang Majlis Bandaraya Kuantan 1 (MBK1), Yahaya said the event is part of the 219th Police Day celebrations and aligns with the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 initiative.

“The event provides a casual platform to bring together PDRM personnel and the public through sports and recreational activities. Categories include 5km and 10km runs, as well as a 50km cycling event. Members of the public can register and find more information on the Pahang Police Facebook page,” he added.
