Muhamad Akmal Urges Authorities To Act Firmly Against Attacks On Homes And Vehicles

Date:

Strong measures must be taken against individuals who resort to extreme actions, including threats of violence, attacking homes, and setting fire to other people’s vehicles, says Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh.

He warned that such behaviour is far more dangerous, as it involves elements of violence and could escalate tensions within the community.

“Tough action is not only necessary for those who desecrate sacred symbols like the trident, but also against extremists who threaten with violence, attack homes, and burn vehicles. This is far more dangerous and demands firm and decisive action from authorities,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.

Law Enforcement Must Be Impartial

Muhamad Akmal emphasised that law enforcement should not appear one-sided, targeting only one party.

“Authorities must treat all sides equally. Those on the other side must also face the law,” he added.

Response To MP’s Call For Action

The UMNO Youth Chief’s remarks come in response to Syahredzan Johan, who previously urged authorities to take firm action against an individual accused of disrespecting Hindu religious symbols by stepping on a trident.

Syahredzan described the act as extreme and unacceptable in Malaysia’s multiracial society, warning it could trigger religious tensions.

The controversy arose after a video circulated online showing a person allegedly stepping on a trisula (soolam) symbol, provoking outrage among Hindu communities.

Muhamad Akmal called on authorities to ensure that justice is applied fairly and firmly to all parties involved, reinforcing public confidence in law enforcement.
