Foul Smell Leads To Discovery Of Man’s Body In Apartment

Date:

A foul smell detected by residents led to the discovery of the body of a man inside an apartment unit in Kinarut, Sabah on Wednesday night.

The incident, which occurred at around 10.30pm, involved a 32-year-old man who was found lifeless in the living room of the residence after authorities forced open the locked door.

Heryan Mohd Tahir, the district police chief of Papar, said police received a report from members of the public who noticed an unpleasant odour believed to be coming from a house in the area.

Following the report, police officers with assistance from the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department forced open the locked door before discovering the man lying motionless in the living room.

Initial inspections at the scene did not reveal any signs of foul play, and the victim’s personal belongings were found intact inside the unit.

The body was later transported to Papar Hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

Police have classified the case as a sudden death report (SDR) and investigations are ongoing. Authorities have also urged anyone with information related to the incident to contact the Papar District Police Headquarters or the nearest police station to assist with the investigation.
