Rare ‘Doomsday Fish’ Washes Up On Cabo San Lucas Beach

Date:

Two rare deep-sea specimens, commonly referred to as “doomsday fish,” were found washed ashore on a beach in Cabo San Lucas, drawing widespread attention online due to their association with apocalyptic warnings.

Monica Pittenger shared a video showing the unusual fish, which normally inhabit depths of around 1,000 metres, struggling near the shoreline.

The clip, uploaded to Instagram on March 4, shows both specimens appearing to wrestle on the sand.

Social media users reacted with humour, posting light-hearted comments to ease public concern, as the “doomsday fish” have historically been linked to predictions of earthquakes or tsunamis.

Authorities confirmed that no unusual seismic activity has been recorded so far in the area.
