A tragic four-vehicle accident claimed the lives of two Malaysian Army personnel, including Mohamad Shakiran Saidi, 36, whose wife discovered the news via a social media message.
Nor Fatin Mohd Azhar, 36, said she was shocked when a Facebook message informed her of the crash involving her husband and fellow soldier Muhammad Aminuddin Amran, 21, at Kilometre 70 on Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kota Bharu. She immediately rushed home and then to Setiu Hospital, where Mohamad Shakiran’s death was confirmed.
Grief-stricken, Nor Fatin recalled her husband’s excitement to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri in their hometown. “He had bought red-themed matching outfits for me and our three children. He was very eager for us to wear them together, but now that wish will never be realised,” she said.
Mohamad Shakiran had especially looked forward to reuniting with their youngest child, eight-month-old Muhamad Harasy Mikhail, and the couple had been living apart for nearly 11 years due to work commitments.
Nor Fatin described the loss as heartbreaking, particularly as the family had finally planned to live together after years apart.
