Netizens Applaud Driver’s Extended Honk Following Near-Miss Incident Near Denai Alam

Date:

A dashcam recording of a red Honda City performing a dangerous lane-cutting manoeuvre has captured the attention of social media users, following a near-miss incident near the Denai Alam exit in Selangor. The footage, which has since gone viral, depicts a tense encounter at a fork in the road where a reckless driver forced their way into traffic, narrowly avoiding a collision. Local netizens have largely sided with the dashcam owner, particularly applauding the driver’s vocal response to the erratic driving.

The video begins with the dashcam owner travelling in the left lane, approaching the junction exiting towards Denai Alam. As the vehicle nears the fork, a red Honda City suddenly swerves into the lane with significant force. Although the driver of the Honda City did utilise their indicator, the abruptness of the move forced the original driver to brake sharply to prevent an accident. The aggressive nature of the lane change appeared to disregard the safety of other road users already established in the lane.

Following the near-collision, the dashcam owner did not let the provocation pass quietly. The footage shows the driver proceeding to tail the Honda City while holding down the horn for approximately 20 seconds. This prolonged auditory protest continued as both vehicles moved through the exit, before the dashcam owner eventually drove off.

The clip has elicited a wave of reactions across various social media platforms, with the majority of commenters defending the dashcam owner’s reaction. Many Malaysians pointed out that using an indicator does not grant a driver the automatic right of way, especially when the move is executed so forcefully that it endangers others.

The “amazing” length of the honk became a particular point of discussion, with many suggesting that such a firm reprimand was entirely deserved given the circumstances.
