A foreign man was arrested after dangerously jumping across platforms at a light rail transit (LRT) station in Kuala Lumpur, reportedly to take a shortcut.

The incident occurred at 10:11am yesterday at the Masjid Jamek LRT Station along the Ampang Jaya line.

Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Sulaiman Ariffin said officers responded immediately to a report and apprehended the man at the scene.

“Initial investigations revealed that the suspect jumped from Platform 2 to Platform 1 in an attempt to save time,” he said.

The man was unable to produce any identification documents and was taken to the Dang Wangi district police headquarters for further questioning.

The case is being investigated under Section 447 of the Penal Code for criminal trespass and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for not possessing valid travel documents. The suspect will be brought to court today for a remand order.
