P-Hailing Delivery Rider Killed In Fatal Collision On New Pantai Expressway

A 38-year-old p-hailing delivery rider lost his life yesterday afternoon following a fatal collision at Kilometer 3 of the New Pantai Expressway (NPE). The incident, which occurred at approximately 1:40 PM, involved the victim’s motorcycle crashing into the rear of a stationary car positioned in the left lane. Emergency responders confirmed that the rider succumbed to severe injuries sustained during the impact and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Petaling Jaya Deputy District Police Chief, Superintendent M Hussin Sollehuddin Zolkifly, stated that the authorities received an official report regarding the traffic mishap at 1:50 PM. Preliminary investigations suggest that the victim was travelling along the expressway when he encountered a vehicle that had stopped due to mechanical failure. It is believed the rider was unable to avoid the stationary car, leading to the high-impact collision that resulted in the tragic fatality.

The police have classified the case for further investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which pertains to causing death by reckless or dangerous driving. Forensic teams and traffic investigators are currently working to determine the exact circumstances that led to the crash, including the visibility at the time and the positioning of the broken-down vehicle. The body of the deceased has since been handled according to standard procedures for post-mortem examination and family notification.

In light of the ongoing investigation, the Petaling Jaya District Police Headquarters (IPD) is appealing to the public for any information or eyewitness accounts that could assist in clarifying the events.
