Shah Alam Police Track Suspects For Launching Fireworks From Moving Car Sunroof

Shah Alam police are currently tracking down several individuals involved in a dangerous stunt where fireworks were launched from a moving vehicle in the Bukit Jelutong area. The investigation was launched after a 50-second video of the incident went viral, sparking public outrage and safety concerns.

According to Shah Alam District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Ramsay Embol, the incident took place at night along Persiaran Ficus, Section U15, near the Elmina Rainforest. The footage depicts a male suspect standing through the car’s sunroof and firing multiple rounds of pyrotechnics into the air while the vehicle was in motion.

The police received a formal report regarding the video today at approximately 12:48 PM. Authorities have classified the case under several stringent laws to address the reckless behavior and the misuse of explosives:

  • Section 286 of the Penal Code: For negligent conduct with respect to explosive substances (punishable by up to six months in prison or a RM2,000 fine).
  • Section 8 of the Explosives Act 1957: For possessing or firing explosives under dangerous circumstances (punishable by up to seven years in prison or a RM10,000 fine).
  • Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998: Regarding the improper use of network facilities to share the content (punishable by a fine of up to RM50,000 or one year in prison).

“Efforts to identify and apprehend the suspects are currently underway,” stated ACP Ramsay. He urged anyone with information regarding the individuals or the vehicle involved to contact Criminal Investigation Officer Inspector Ahmad Mokhsin Abdul Rahman at 011-17554394 to assist with the ongoing probe.
