Wanted Criminal With 31 Priors Arrested Following High-Speed Chase And Multi-Car Crash At KLIA

Date:

A 30-year-old local man with a staggering criminal record was apprehended by authorities yesterday afternoon following a dramatic high-speed pursuit at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). The suspect, who was driving a red Honda Civic, attempted to evade capture by ramming into several civilian vehicles before police successfully intercepted him near the airport terminal.

KLIA District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner M Ravi, confirmed that the incident occurred at approximately 4.30 pm when a Mobile Patrol Vehicle (MPV) conducting crime prevention rounds spotted the suspicious vehicle. When officers signalled for the driver to pull over for a routine inspection, the man refused to cooperate and sped off toward the Level 3 departure area of the KLIA terminal.

During the frantic attempt to escape, the suspect recklessly ploughed into five public vehicles that were parked or moving along the terminal route. Despite the chaos and the damage caused to civilian property, the police managed to corner the vehicle and detain the driver shortly after the collisions. A video of the pursuit, which captured the intense moment the police car trailed the suspect through the busy airport surroundings, has since gone viral on social media.

Subsequent background checks revealed the suspect’s extensive involvement in illegal activities, boasting 31 previous criminal records. Furthermore, the man was found to be on the police wanted list for a prior narcotics offence. His arrest marks the end of a significant evasion period, as authorities had been seeking him in connection with multiple unresolved cases.

The suspect is currently being investigated under several statutes, including Section 186 and Section 427 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant and committing mischief. He also faces charges under Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, alongside various traffic violations stemming from the chase. ACP Ravi stated that the individual would be produced at the Sepang Court today for a formal remand application to facilitate further investigations.
