‘Everyone Has Struggles,’ Says Malaysian Singer Amid Controversy Over Influencer’s Tattoos

Date:

Malaysian singer Yonnyboii has said he avoids being overly judgmental towards fellow artists who have made mistakes in life, including those who have tattoos, stressing that every individual faces different personal struggles.

The 28-year-old artiste, whose real name is Muhammad Haqeem Nuriman Nor Azrin, said people should be more understanding as no one is perfect, while also cautioning against publicly exposing personal flaws for validation.

“Even if we want to get angry, we ourselves are not perfect. I also have red hair and all that,” he said, adding that life challenges vary from person to person.

He explained that some individuals may go through deep emotional hardships, such as losing their parents, which can lead them to make decisions they later regret.

“I understand what was said — due to struggles or hardship, some people end up making wrong choices that are hard to reverse,” he added.

Yonnyboii was commenting on recent controversy involving influencer Iman Kamil, who revealed that he suffered from depression and ended up getting tattoos during that period, which drew public criticism.

The singer, known for the track Sakit, who also lives with Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD), said that even if someone has fallen into wrongdoing, it should not be used as content for public validation.

“For me, there is no need to share it. Many people have gone through phases where they made mistakes or did things like getting tattoos after a difficult year,” he said.

“What matters is not seeking public approval just to normalise it. Some things are personal and should remain private.”

He added that matters involving religion should be treated seriously and not taken lightly, stressing that individuals should not publicise their personal sins simply for attention or acceptance.
