The existence of UFOs has long sparked debate and scepticism, but recent whistleblower claims about the US government’s knowledge may reignite interest in the phenomenon.
A Capitol Hill hearing in May brought fresh attention to Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAPs) and the possibility of extraterrestrial life. During the briefing, physicist Dr Eric Davis — known for his work on top-secret Pentagon projects — claimed there are four types of aliens potentially operating unidentified crafts: Grays, Nordics, Insectoids, and Reptilians.
The Grays gained notoriety in the 1960s following the Betty and Barney Hill abduction case, where the couple described small humanoids with smooth grey skin, large black almond-shaped eyes, and no visible noses or ears.
Nordics are described as tall, slender beings resembling Scandinavian humans, with blonde hair, blue eyes, and light skin.
Insectoids have insect-like traits such as multiple limbs, exoskeletons, mandibles, and sometimes antennae.
Reptilians were popularised in the late 20th century by David Icke’s conspiracy theories, describing shape-shifting reptilian aliens.
Missouri Representative Eric Burlison, a member of the House Oversight Committee and UAP caucus, said he had previously heard these four classifications in private discussions. “I wasn’t expecting Eric Davis, a respected scientist, to say that,” Burlison admitted.
While calling himself a sceptic, Burlison noted uncertainty over whether Davis’ information came from firsthand knowledge or secondhand reports. “If true, this would be a paradigm-shifting moment. But if it is true, the government has no right to keep such a secret from the public,” he said.
Burlison acknowledged that public acceptance of alien possibilities may draw more scepticism, but insisted on the need for investigation. “Some will think we’re nuts,” he said, adding that taxpayers fund Pentagon, intelligence, and energy department programs studying UAPs.
“I owe it to the American people to get to the bottom of this,” he concluded.
