Coffin Placed By Roadside As Warning To Illegal Street Racers In Sungai Burong

Date:

A group of youths has sparked mixed reactions online after placing a coffin by the roadside at Batu 12, Sungai Burong as a symbolic warning to illegal street racers.

The act, shared on social media by user Instagram account @arep743, showed the group removing a white coffin from a hearse before positioning it along the shoulder of the road, reportedly as a stark reminder against dangerous racing activities in the area.

According to the post, the gesture was intended to raise awareness among young riders who continue to engage in reckless riding along the roadside without considering the risks to their lives and safety.

The group is believed to be made up of local mosque community members, who reportedly chose the symbolic approach as a form of warning and moral reminder against illegal racing, commonly known as “mat rempit” activities.

The unusual action quickly went viral, drawing a wide range of reactions from the public on social media. Many users praised the initiative, describing it as a creative and impactful way to discourage illegal racing behaviour.

Some commenters suggested alternative preventive measures such as warning lights or visible deterrent displays, while others viewed the coffin as a powerful and sobering reminder of the potential consequences of reckless riding.
