Tuan Ibrahim Praises AKPS Chief, Calls For Probe Into Those Who Recorded KLIA Incident

Date:

PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man has praised the firmness shown by Malaysia Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) director-general Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain, saying his actions during enforcement operations at the country’s entry points should be acknowledged.

Tuan Ibrahim said he personally supported Mohd Shuhaily’s approach in carrying out enforcement operations at Malaysia’s airports, stressing that such firmness had a direct impact on national security.

He also called on the government to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the individuals who recorded the incident, rather than focusing solely on Mohd Shuhaily.

“When he received information and conducted monitoring, in my view, there were outsiders who had nothing to do with the operation recording the incident. That should not have happened, as if the incident was suddenly made public.

“We need to respect Mohd Shuhaily’s position and firmness. At the same time, the government must thoroughly investigate who was behind sending those two individuals there, rather than investigating Mohd Shuhaily alone.

“Investigate as well why there are leakages at the airport level, particularly in the cargo section,” he said.

He was speaking at a press conference after the Kulliyyah ‘Ulum Islamiyyah Zulkifli Muhammad (KUIZM) Convocation here on Saturday.

A video circulating on social media showed Mohd Shuhaily reprimanding an individual at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 and appearing to make physical contact with the person.

A copy of a police report involving the individual who allegedly claimed to have been mistreated by Mohd Shuhaily also circulated online.

The incident reportedly occurred on Sept 28 during an enforcement operation at KLIA.

Following the controversy, Mohd Shuhaily said at a press conference on Thursday that he was prepared to accept whatever decision or action the government took against him.

He said he had informed the highest levels of government and the Home Ministry about the incident.

“For me, to change something, there is a price to pay. If that price is myself, then I will pay with myself,” he said.
