Federal Court Greenlights Najib’s Bid for House Arrest, Rejects AGC Appeal

The Federal Court has rejected the Attorney-General’s Chambers’ final appeal to block Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s judicial review concerning a royal addendum that could allow him to serve his prison sentence under house arrest.

This decision clears the way for Najib to proceed with his challenge in the High Court to enforce the royal order. The Federal Court found no grounds for appeal from the lower court’s ruling.

Najib is currently serving a six-year sentence for misappropriating RM42 million from SRC International Sdn Bhd, a sentence reduced from 12 years and a RM210 million fine following a royal pardon in September 2022, which lowered his fine to RM50 million.
