Najib Razak Wins Federal Court Nod to Challenge House Arrest Denial

Date:

Former Prime Minister Najib Razak is set to have his chance in court as he seeks to compel the government to enforce a royal addendum permitting him to serve the remainder of his prison sentence under house arrest.

This follows the Federal Court’s ruling today, which upheld the Court of Appeal’s majority decision from January 6.

The ruling allows Najib to submit additional evidence and directs the High Court to hear his judicial review application. The Attorney-General had previously argued that Najib’s case was not strong enough to warrant a full hearing.
