The Thai Embassy in Tehran has issued its highest-level security alert, urging Thai nationals in Iran to prepare for immediate evacuation amid growing concerns over a potential resurgence of conflict in the region.
In a statement released on April 14, the embassy said the current two-week ceasefire should not be interpreted as a lasting peace, describing it instead as a temporary pause intended for negotiations and risk management. It warned that the situation remains highly unstable and could deteriorate rapidly.
The embassy further assessed that ongoing discussions between Iran and the United States are at significant risk of collapse. Should negotiations fail or the ceasefire end, it warned that a new wave of attacks could break out, potentially more severe than previous incidents.
It also highlighted that southern Iran remains particularly volatile, especially areas along the Persian Gulf coast and near the Strait of Hormuz, including Hormozgan, Bushehr, Khuzestan, and Bandar Abbas. These regions have been classified as highly dangerous under the latest assessment.
Thai nationals in Iran have been instructed to avoid travel to high-risk southern zones and to remain alert even if conditions appear temporarily stable. They have also been advised to closely follow official updates from both the embassy and local authorities.
The embassy stressed that all Thai citizens should be ready for evacuation at any time, with essential items such as passports, documents, medication and emergency supplies prepared in advance to facilitate a swift departure if required.
Thai nationals in Thailand have also been advised to suspend all travel to Iran until further notice, as part of precautionary measures.
Authorities said the embassy will continue to closely monitor developments and provide immediate updates should the security situation change. Thai citizens requiring urgent assistance can contact the Royal Thai Embassy in Tehran at any time.
