Malaysia To Launch ‘Let’s Read 10 Minutes’ Campaign On World Book Day

Date:

The Ministry of National Unity, through the National Library of Malaysia, will launch the “Let’s Read 10 Minutes” campaign on April 23 in conjunction with World Book and Copyright Day.

Minister of National Unity Aaron Ago Dagang said the initiative aims to revive the habit of daily reading among Malaysians from all walks of life. The campaign reflects ongoing efforts to cultivate a knowledge-driven society through simple yet consistent practices.

He emphasised that even allocating just 10 minutes a day to reading can create a meaningful impact in shaping a knowledgeable, critical-thinking, and competitive population. Such small habits, he noted, can contribute significantly to long-term personal and national development.

“Reading culture must become a way of life for Malaysians. With just 10 minutes a day, we can instil the value of knowledge as a foundation for building a MADANI society and a more progressive nation,” he said.

This year’s campaign carries the theme “Reading Builds The Nation”, in line with the government’s aspiration to strengthen nation-building through the promotion of knowledge and reading culture. The initiative also supports Malaysia’s goal of becoming a reading nation by 2030.

Aaron added that the ministry will continue to intensify and expand inclusive reading programmes to ensure sustained public participation. The long-term vision is to make reading an integral part of everyday life across all segments of society.

He also called on all groups—including civil servants, non-governmental organisations, school students, university students, youth, as well as the private and corporate sectors—to take part in the campaign and support the national reading agenda.
