A late-night incident in Sengkang saw a young vape user mistakenly trying to enter the wrong residential unit, wandering outside a flat for nearly half an hour before police were called to the scene.
The episode took place at Block 452A Sengkang West Way on April 2 at around 1.25am, where CCTV footage captured the individual behaving erratically along the common corridor outside a resident’s home.
According to homeowner Cheng, the situation began when he heard repeated attempts to open his gate in the middle of the night. Upon checking through the peephole, he saw a stranger moving unsteadily outside his unit and later suspected the individual may have been under the influence of substances.
The youth, who was seen vaping in the footage, appeared disoriented throughout the incident. He was observed losing his balance, falling to the floor and struggling to put on his footwear, before repeatedly attempting to unlock the gate of the wrong unit.
Cheng said his household was alarmed by the disturbance and chose not to open the door, instead contacting the authorities for assistance.
Police arrived at approximately 1.51am and were seen in the footage speaking to the individual, offering assistance and asking about his residence. The youth was unable to clearly recall his unit number but claimed he lived on a higher floor of the building.
At one point, officers escorted him through the corridor as they attempted to locate his correct home, before eventually taking him away from the scene.
Cheng later discovered visible handprints on the wall outside his unit after the incident had ended.
In response to media queries, police confirmed they received a call for assistance at about 1.30am. A vaporiser and a pod were seized during the investigation, and the case has been referred to the Health Sciences Authority for further follow-up.
