Viral Post Shows Parking Fines Exceeding RM20,000 Sparks Shock Online

Date:

A social media post has gone viral after showing a parking compound amounting to RM20,710, sparking widespread discussion among netizens.

The screenshot, shared on Threads by user @Izzatkml, displayed a municipal council (MBPJ) payment application interface showing the unusually high total of outstanding parking summonses.

The post quickly caught public attention due to the staggering figure, with many expressing shock and disbelief over the amount displayed.

However, the individual later clarified in the comment section that the fines did not belong to him. He explained that he had simply checked the vehicle parked in front of him out of curiosity.

“Relax everyone, it’s not my car. I just checked the vehicle parked in front of me,” he wrote.

The post triggered a wave of reactions online, with many users sharing their own experiences dealing with parking fines.

Some netizens said their highest summons amount was around RM1,000 and that they usually wait for discount periods before settling payments.

Others questioned how such a large amount could accumulate, jokingly asking whether it resembled a salary rather than a fine.

A separate user shared that frequent parking issues near their workplace had led to repeated summonses due to limited parking spaces, especially in busy urban areas. They said they had little choice but to park along the roadside, despite the risk of receiving fines.

The viral post has since reignited conversations about parking enforcement, urban congestion and the challenges faced by motorists in finding adequate parking in high-traffic areas.
