The Ministry of Education (Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia) has credited special assistance of RM300 for each student affected by the fire incident in Kampung Bahagia, Sandakan, Sabah, with funds channelled directly to school accounts.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the aid will be immediately distributed by schools to students impacted by the blaze to help them prepare for essential school supplies.

She explained that the RM300 allocation for each eligible Malaysian student has already been transferred to the respective school accounts, allowing for swift disbursement to those in need.

The ministry also confirmed that psychosocial support services will be provided for affected students, teachers and school staff, while those impacted will be given flexibility regarding school uniform requirements.

State education authorities, including the Sabah Education Department and the Sandakan District Education Office, have been instructed to ensure students’ needs are met, including transportation assistance to school where necessary.

Fadhlina stressed that the ministry is committed to ensuring comprehensive support is delivered, with a focus on welfare and wellbeing for all affected individuals.

Earlier, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced the RM300 aid, which will benefit 454 Malaysian students across 12 schools affected by the fire.
