Seven-Vehicle Pile-Up Leaves Over 10 Injured In Rush Hour Crash

Date:

A seven-vehicle pile-up on a highway in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand left more than 10 people injured during the morning rush hour on April 28, 2026.

Police from Nakhon Ratchasima City Police Station were alerted to the collision on Highway 224, the Ratchasima–Chokchai route heading towards the city, in front of a shopping mall in Nong Bua Sala Subdistrict, Mueang District. Rescue teams from the Sawang Metta Nakhon Ratchasima Foundation were dispatched to assist the injured.

At the scene, authorities found a chain-reaction crash involving multiple vehicles, including a white Honda Jazz at the front, followed by a dark grey Toyota sedan, a black Toyota Fortuner, a white sedan, an Isuzu pickup truck, a Mitsubishi Triton pickup, and a refrigerated truck. The successive impacts caused significant damage across all vehicles involved.

More than 10 people were injured in the accident, including drivers and passengers from each vehicle. At least four victims sustained head and chest injuries after being thrown forward into steering wheels upon impact. All injured individuals were given first aid at the scene before being transported to P. Med Hospital for further treatment.

Preliminary findings suggest the crash occurred during peak traffic hours when motorists were travelling at high speed and following too closely. Investigators believe that when the lead vehicle suddenly slowed or braked, the following vehicles were unable to stop in time, triggering a multi-car collision.

Police have since begun reviewing CCTV footage, dashcam recordings, and physical evidence from the scene, while also interviewing all drivers involved. The case remains under investigation to determine the exact cause before further legal action is taken.
