Woman Struck And Killed By Lightning While Moving Cattle During Storm

Date:

A 40-year-old woman was tragically killed after being struck by lightning while bringing cattle into a barn during a thunderstorm in Udon Thani Province, Thailand, leaving her family and villagers in deep shock and grief.

The incident occurred on April 26, 2026, in a rice field area in Na Sai Subdistrict, Phibun Rak District. The woman had reportedly gone out to move nine cows to safety as heavy rain and thunderstorms approached the area. She was later found dead in the field after being struck by lightning.

Her cremation was held the following day, April 27, 2026, at Wat Amphawanaram (Wat Ban Don Muang), Moo 3, where family members, relatives, and villagers gathered to pay their final respects. The atmosphere at the ceremony was filled with sorrow as loved ones struggled to come to terms with the sudden loss.

According to her husband, the couple had been married for four years and did not have any children. He said he was working at another hut nearby when his wife went out alone to secure their cattle due to the worsening weather conditions. He later learned of her death after she failed to return home.

The victim’s sister recounted that she and her husband had gone to check on the cattle pen after hearing thunder in the area. When they could not find her, they called out but received no response. She was later discovered lying face down in the field, with signs indicating a fatal lightning strike.

Family members expressed deep sorrow over the sudden tragedy, with the husband saying he did not even have the chance to say goodbye. He described the loss as heartbreaking and difficult to accept.

In accordance with local beliefs, villagers also noted that the funeral was carried out promptly, as some believe that keeping the body for too long after a violent or unnatural death may bring further misfortune to the community.
