PN To Issue Joint Statement On Negri Sembilan Political Crisis, Says Muhyiddin

Date:

Perikatan Nasional (PN) will issue a joint statement under a single banner regarding the ongoing political crisis in Negri Sembilan, as the coalition moves to present a unified stance amid rising uncertainty in the state.

Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the matter will be clarified soon by the coalition leadership, stressing that the explanation should come from the proper channel within PN.

“Let’s wait for the secretary-general to issue a statement to explain the Negri Sembilan crisis. It is not just Bersatu, but also PAS, and we are under PN,” he told reporters at the Kuala Lumpur court complex today.

He added that it would be more appropriate for the coalition’s secretary-general, Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, or the chairman to address the matter officially on behalf of PN.

Earlier, PAS vice-president Datuk Idris Ahmad said PN has not imposed any conditions for cooperation with Barisan Nasional (BN) in forming a state government in Negri Sembilan.

The political uncertainty follows the withdrawal of support by 14 BN state assemblymen from the current administration, as well as the postponement of the state legislative assembly sitting. Reports have also emerged of attempts involving an Undang to act against the position of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir.
