Pakatan Harapan (PH) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Negeri Sembilan state government led by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, emphasising the need to safeguard economic stability and protect the welfare of the people. The coalition made it clear that maintaining steady governance remains a priority, especially during challenging global conditions.
PH Communications Director, Fahmi Fadzil, said the alliance would also continue to uphold and defend the role and functions of the Malay Rulers’ institution, stressing its importance within the country’s constitutional framework. He noted that such institutions must be respected to preserve national harmony and political balance.
At the same time, PH expressed disappointment over the actions of 14 UMNO-Barisan Nasional (BN) assemblymen in Negeri Sembilan, stating that their move contradicts the spirit of the Unity Government. The coalition criticised the attempt as a betrayal, accusing the group of trying to destabilise the administration without justifiable grounds.
“The move by UMNO-BN to withdraw support and attempt to take over the state government is unacceptable, particularly as it has no connection to the Menteri Besar’s performance,” Fahmi said in a statement on Tuesday. He added that such political manoeuvres disregard public welfare and come at a time when the government is addressing global supply challenges and working to ease the people’s financial burden.
Earlier, Negeri Sembilan BN chairman Jalaluddin Alias announced that all 14 UMNO-BN state assemblymen had unanimously lost confidence in the leadership of Aminuddin Harun and would withdraw their support from the state administration.
Jalaluddin said the decision was linked to a crisis involving the state’s adat and constitutional institutions. The development has since triggered fresh political tensions, raising concerns over the stability of the Unity Government framework that currently governs Negeri Sembilan.
