Perlis DUN Sitting Rescheduled To June 3–5 After Royal Consent

Date:

The Perlis State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting for its Fourth Term, which was previously postponed, has now been rescheduled to take place over three days from June 3 to 5, 2026.

Perlis Menteri Besar Abu Bakar Hamzah said the new dates were set after receiving consent from the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail. He added that the decision was also made following discussions with DUN Speaker Rus’sele Eizan.

Abu Bakar said the sitting will now be held on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday as part of the revised schedule. He had earlier indicated that a new date would be announced soon after consultation with the relevant authorities.

Addressing claims regarding the earlier postponement, the Menteri Besar clarified that the move was not a cancellation but a revision of dates. He explained that the adjustment was necessary due to his relatively short tenure in office, as well as the recent appointment of the State Secretary.

He also said the state administration is currently focusing on planning Perlis’ development direction, including the formation of key committees and strategic frameworks under the “Perlis Maju” initiative, covering sectors such as economy, tourism, religion and education.

Abu Bakar expressed confidence that detailed plans for the state’s development will be presented more comprehensively during the upcoming assembly proceedings.

Previously, six PAS assembly members had reportedly sought clarification over the earlier postponement of the sitting, which was originally scheduled for April 21 to 23.
