Police Hunt Four Suspects Over Arson Attack On Two Vehicles In Kapar

Date:

Police are on the hunt for four suspects believed to be involved in a arson attack on two vehicles belonging to a welder in Kapar, Klang, on Tuesday night.

Klang North District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner S Vijaya Rao confirmed that authorities received a report regarding the incident of mischief by fire at around 12.12am.

He said the victim only realised the incident after hearing an explosion and later discovered that his Toyota Avanza and Perodua Myvi were on fire. The 55-year-old man, however, managed to extinguish the blaze with the assistance of neighbours before it could spread further.

Preliminary findings based on closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage showed that four men arrived on two motorcycles. The suspects were seen smashing the vehicle windows before splashing petrol and setting both cars on fire.

Police said the fire caused approximately 30 per cent damage to the interiors of both vehicles. Investigations have been classified under Section 435 of the Penal Code for mischief by fire.

Authorities added that efforts are ongoing to track down the suspects involved in the incident, while also advising the public against speculation that could interfere with investigations. Members of the public with information have been urged to contact the nearest police station or the Klang North District Police Headquarters at 03-3291 2222 to assist in the case.
