Man Found Burnt To Death In Five-Terrace House Fire In Kepong

Date:

A man was found burnt to death in a fire involving five terrace houses at Taman Ehsan, Kepong, in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Operations Assistant Director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the department received an emergency call at 2.30am, with fire engines arriving at the scene about 20 minutes later.

He said the blaze involved five single-storey Class A terrace houses, each measuring approximately 20 by 60 feet (111.48 square metres).

A 53-year-old local man was later found burnt on a bed inside one of the bedrooms at about 4.29am. The fire also destroyed two vehicles, a Hyundai Getz and a Hyundai XG 250, according to authorities.

Investigations revealed that one house was completely destroyed, while the others suffered damage ranging between 20 and 80 per cent. The scale of destruction highlights how quickly residential fires can escalate, especially in closely built housing areas.

A total of 27 firefighters from the Selayang Fire and Rescue Station, with assistance from Rawang, Jinjang and Manjalara stations, were deployed to the scene. Coordinated efforts from multiple units were required to bring the blaze under control.

The fire was successfully contained at 3.42am and fully extinguished by 7.15am. Residual firefighting and cooling works were still ongoing at the location after the main fire had been put out.

Authorities confirmed that the victim’s remains have been handed over to police for further investigation, as the cause of the fire is still being determined.
