A soldier allegedly involved in a drink-driving crash on the Maju Expressway (MEX) has been charged in the magistrate’s court with the murder of a Bangladeshi man.
The accused, Jad Faid Arhan, 31, is alleged to have caused the death of 22-year-old Muzahid Millad, a well-known gaming content creator who went by the name “Advance Gaming”.
When the charge was read before Magistrate Noorelynna Hanim Abd Halim, the accused calmly responded, “I understand,” while standing in the dock wearing a red collared T-shirt and dark blue jeans.
He appeared composed throughout the proceedings despite being handcuffed, and was instructed to remove his face mask before the hearing began.
According to the charge, the offence was allegedly committed at 5.30am on 23 April at kilometre 1.9 of the MEX Highway, from Salak Selatan heading towards Jalan Tun Razak.
The charge carries the death penalty or imprisonment between 30 and 40 years, along with whipping if the death sentence is not imposed, reflecting the severity of murder under Malaysian law.
The case has drawn public attention due to the victim’s profile as a popular online gaming creator and the circumstances involving a suspected road crash linked to drink driving.
