Police Detain 69, Including Civil Servants, In Major Child Exploitation Crackdown Across Seven Countries

Date:

Police have detained 69 individuals, including civil servants, in a nationwide operation targeting online child sexual exploitation under Operation Cyber Guardian 2026.

Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail said the coordinated enforcement effort involved Malaysia alongside Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Hong Kong, South Korea and Japan as part of a wider international crackdown on such offences.

He said those arrested, aged between 15 and 66, came from various backgrounds and occupations. The arrests were carried out between April 6 and 8 following nationwide raids linked to intelligence identifying 101 individuals of interest.

“Of the total, 67 were original targets while two others were accomplices found at the locations during inspections,” he said during a press conference at Bukit Aman today.

Police said the operation forms part of ongoing cross-border cooperation to curb online child exploitation networks and strengthen enforcement against digital sexual crimes. Investigations are continuing.
