Three masked men armed with machetes reportedly attempted to rob a pawn shop in Puchong, Selangor, but were forced to abandon their plan and flee empty-handed after being unable to break into a secured area of the premises.
The incident is believed to have occurred around 8am on Tuesday at a pawn shop in Taman Puchong Prima, shortly after the outlet had opened for business.
According to viral video footage circulating online, a female Chinese shop assistant had just unlocked the main entrance and entered the premises when the suspects, who were allegedly waiting across the road, rushed towards the shop and followed her inside.
The footage shows the woman moving into a second secured door leading to the counter area, moments before the three suspects—each wearing black face coverings and armed with machetes—entered the shop.
However, the attempted robbery quickly failed when the suspects were unable to open the locked inner counter door. With no access to the valuables inside, the trio was seen retreating and fleeing the scene shortly after.
The failed raid is understood to have prevented any injuries or losses, with the swift security setup inside the shop playing a crucial role in stopping the robbery attempt.
Police have yet to release an official statement, and investigations into the incident are believed to be ongoing.
