Chinese Man Arrested At Airport While Attempting To Flee After Allegedly Stabbing Wife And Child

Date:

A Chinese man has been arrested at Krabi Airport after allegedly stabbing his wife and 13-year-old child in a violent domestic incident in Phuket that left both victims seriously injured.

Police said the attack took place on May 4 at a house in Moo 5, Chalong Subdistrict, Mueang Phuket District. Officers from Chalong Police Station were alerted after reports of a foreign national assaulting family members with a knife.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they found a large amount of blood inside the residence. The injured victims had already been transported to hospital before police reached the property.

Neighbours told investigators that the suspect, identified as a 30-year-old Chinese man, lived with his 48-year-old wife and their 13-year-old son, and the couple was frequently involved in disputes prior to the incident.

Following the attack, the suspect allegedly drove the victims to hospital in a red Suzuki Swift before fleeing the scene.

Police later tracked the man to Krabi province, where he had booked a flight from Krabi to Kuala Lumpur scheduled to depart at 11.50am. Coordination between police units led to his arrest at Krabi Airport before he could leave the country.

Authorities also informed the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, while both injured victims are reported to be in stable condition and recovering in hospital.

The suspect has been brought back to Chalong Police Station for questioning, and police say further investigations are underway before formal charges are filed.
