Miri’s ‘Op Samseng Jalanan’ Nets 18 Bikes, 101 Traffic Offences

Date:

Police seized 18 motorcycles and issued 101 summonses during Op Samseng Jalanan carried out at several locations here last night.

Miri district police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said the operation, led by the district police headquarters’ Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division, covered Jalan Bandaraya Miri, Jalan Marina, Jalan Miri-Bypass, Jalan Tanjung Lobang and Jalan Tudan.

“A total of 35 vehicles were inspected, with 18 motorcycles seized under Section 60 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for structural modifications and further checks,” he said in a statement.

Police also screened 42 individuals and issued 101 summonses for various traffic offences under PDRM (K) 257.

Mohd Farhan stressed that such operations will continue as a reminder for road users, particularly motorcyclists, to ride responsibly, avoid illegal racing, and refrain from making modifications that go against original specifications.

“We urge road users not to gather by the roadside in ways that disrupt traffic and cause noise disturbances. Reckless driving or riding not only endangers those involved but also other road users,” he added.
