Malaysia’s Unity Government leadership council has reached a consensus to continue political cooperation in Negeri Sembilan, in a move aimed at preserving administrative stability and safeguarding public welfare in the state. The decision reflects ongoing efforts to ensure a cohesive governing approach amid evolving political dynamics.
The agreement was finalised during a meeting held on Tuesday, jointly chaired by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. The session focused on aligning political strategies and strengthening collaboration under the Unity Government framework.
In a joint statement, Pakatan Harapan secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and UMNO secretary-general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki confirmed that the council respects the positions adopted by both parties’ political bureaus regarding issues in Negeri Sembilan.
The statement emphasised that both Pakatan Harapan and United Malays National Organisation have agreed to sustain their cooperation at the state level to ensure political stability and the continued well-being of the people. Such consensus highlights the importance of unity in governance, particularly in managing sensitive matters that may arise.
Additionally, top leaders from both blocs agreed that any state government decisions with the potential to trigger sensitivities or misunderstandings must be promptly referred to the leadership council. This step is intended to maintain administrative harmony and prevent conflicts that could undermine the working relationship between the two parties.
The meeting was convened to coordinate political direction and address current issues under the Unity Government umbrella, reinforcing a shared commitment to stable governance and effective policy implementation in the state.
