Undang Yang Empat File Legal Challenge Over DKU Meeting Decision In Negeri Sembilan

Date:

The Undang Yang Empat have initiated legal proceedings against the Negeri Sembilan state government, seeking to suspend the outcome of a special meeting held by the Dewan Keadilan dan Undang (DKU) on April 17. The move marks a significant development in the state’s traditional and administrative landscape.

The originating summons was filed at the High Court of Seremban on Tuesday by law firm Tetuan Deidra Sharona & Co. The defendants named in the suit are DKU secretary Raja Norazli Raja Nordin, the DKU itself, and the Negeri Sembilan state government.

The plaintiffs comprise four key traditional leaders: Mubarak Dohak, Akhirulzaman Maarof Mat Rashad, Muhammad Abdullah, and Abdul Rahim Yasin. Also listed in the action are Tunku Syed Razman Tunku Syed Idrus Al Qadri and Badarudin Abdul Khalid.

According to court documents shared by their legal representatives, the plaintiffs are seeking a declaration affirming their right to obtain the official minutes of the DKU special meeting held at Istana Besar Seri Menanti on April 17, 2026. The request underscores the importance of transparency in decisions involving traditional governance institutions.

They are also asking the court to compel the first and second defendants to produce and hand over the meeting minutes within seven days from the date of any court order. In addition, the plaintiffs are seeking an interim order to suspend any enforcement or actions arising from the meeting’s decisions until the minutes are disclosed.

The application is scheduled to be heard before a High Court judge in Seremban on May 13, 2026, at 9am. The case is expected to draw attention to the balance between customary authority and administrative procedures within Negeri Sembilan’s unique governance system.
