United States President Donald Trump has said the ongoing conflict involving Iran could continue for another two to three weeks, according to Agensi Anadolu.
In a telephone interview with radio host Hugh Hewitt, Trump said time is not a limiting factor in the United States’ approach to the situation. He also declined to confirm whether a ceasefire with Iran had effectively ended, following reports of renewed tensions involving alleged Iranian activity near the United Arab Emirates.
When asked whether recent developments indicated an escalation, Trump insisted the United States would ultimately prevail. He said the situation would either be resolved through a negotiated agreement or a decisive military outcome.
He further claimed that US forces had already achieved significant military advantage, including in maritime operations, and suggested that Iran’s naval capabilities had been heavily reduced following recent engagements.
Trump also stated that the United States maintained strategic control over the Strait of Hormuz, warning of potential risks to global shipping routes. He added that even small-scale maritime threats, such as naval mines, could pose serious dangers to commercial vessels.
The president also claimed there were signs of internal pressure within Iran, suggesting that some citizens were seeking access to weapons to oppose the government in Tehran, though he did not provide evidence for the claim.
Tensions in the region have remained high following a series of strikes and counterstrikes involving Iran, Israel, and US-linked interests in the Gulf, with ongoing disruptions affecting key maritime corridors.
