A man’s attempt to flee from police ended in a crash involving three vehicles along Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur, in an incident that also led to the discovery of drugs in his possession.
The incident occurred at about 6.15pm yesterday when the 31-year-old suspect, driving a Perodua Bezza, allegedly failed to stop after being instructed to do so by a patrol unit from the Ampang District Police Headquarters.
According to Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa, the suspect continued driving away, prompting a police pursuit from Pandan Indah towards Jalan Ampang.
He said the chase ended when the suspect lost control of his vehicle at a traffic light junction and collided with two other cars that had stopped at a red light.
The vehicles involved included a Perodua Aruz driven by a 42-year-old woman and another Perodua Bezza driven by a 35-year-old man. No injuries were reported, although all three vehicles sustained damage.
Police detained the suspect at the scene and later discovered 4.7 grams of suspected yaba pills in his possession. Initial urine screening also tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.
The case is being investigated under multiple provisions, including Section 186 of the Penal Code, Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, and Sections 12(2) and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Footage of the police chase and crash has since gone viral on social media.
