Shed Weight, Slash Fees: Residents Earn RM17 Off for Every 0.5kg Lost

Date:

In Ningbo, Zhejiang, a residential community has launched a unique “weight loss initiative” for homeowners aged 18 to 60: residents can earn discounts on their property management fees by losing weight. Running from June 20 to September 19, 2025, the program allows one participant per household, with every 0.5 kilograms (about 1 pound) lost translating to a 30 RMB deduction on property fees.

Since the program began, residents have formed a “Neighborhood Fitness Group,” creating a WeChat group for sharing workout progress and healthy recipes, as well as a shared exercise space. The property management company also set up a dedicated fitness area and partnered with professional organizations to offer scientific weight-loss and health seminars. One resident, Ms. Wang, said that daily check-ins and recipe sharing in the group made the weight-loss journey more motivating.

According to property management statistics, over 100 households have participated so far, with an average weight loss of 2 kilograms (4 pounds) per person. One homeowner lost 6.5 kilograms (13 pounds) and earned a 390 RMB discount on property fees.

The property manager explained that the initiative is part of a national “Year of Weight Management” campaign and represents an innovative “health points for property fee discounts” model. Beyond weight reduction, they observed residents developing regular exercise habits. The company plans to incorporate such health initiatives into routine community services in the future.
