A child was injured after a trampoline surface at an indoor amusement park suddenly tore, causing her to fall nearly two metres to the ground in a shocking incident in Inner Mongolia.
The accident happened at “Hi Le Bao Children’s Playground” in Chifeng’s Songshan District, where a girl was playing on a trampoline when the net beneath her reportedly ripped without warning.
The impact sent her crashing to the ground from around 1.8 to 2 metres high, leaving her injured. She was later diagnosed with bone fractures but is not in life-threatening condition and is currently undergoing recovery treatment.
The park initially moved to seal off the area and contacted authorities immediately after the incident, while staff also accompanied the victim to hospital for treatment.
According to a staff member identified as Chen, the girl was mistakenly assumed by some online viewers to be an adult due to her height, although she is in fact a minor.
Park management later claimed the incident was not caused by equipment ageing, but by external damage to the facility.
They alleged that trespassers had previously climbed into the park at night, damaging fences and illegally entering the premises to use the facilities and smoke.
The operator further claimed that cigarette burns may have created tiny holes in the trampoline net, which went unnoticed during routine inspections due to their small size and hidden location.
When the girl jumped on the weakened area, the net reportedly gave way under pressure, causing the sudden tear.
The amusement park said it had repeatedly reported cases of trespassing and vandalism, but said the issue had not been fully resolved.
In a separate controversy, an audio recording of a staff member circulated online, in which the employee allegedly downplayed the incident and said the damaged equipment had already been repaired and was still usable.
The remarks triggered public outrage, prompting the park to respond by confirming the staff member had been dismissed for inappropriate comments.
Authorities have since urged the operator to strengthen safety inspections and improve management procedures following the incident.
