A 16-year-old girl has died after a horrific fall from a high-altitude swing ride at an adventure park in Sichuan, China, in a tragedy that has sparked widespread safety concerns.
The incident occurred on May 3 at the “Maliu Rock Adventure Park” in Guang’an, where the teenager was reportedly taking part in a cliffside swing attraction. Witnesses said she had been wearing a safety helmet and carrying a fan support flag at the time, while preparing for the ride above a steep drop.
According to eyewitness accounts, shortly after the swing was launched, the safety system allegedly failed. The girl was reportedly thrown into a violent motion, spinning in a full 360-degree rotation mid-air before losing control entirely.

She is said to have struck the rock face multiple times during the fall, with witnesses claiming she hit the cliff wall three times before impact sounds echoed through the valley. The violent sequence reportedly ended with her being suspended before emergency responders rushed to the scene.
Despite rescue efforts and immediate hospital treatment, she was later pronounced dead. The incident has since drawn intense public attention online, with many questioning whether proper safety checks and harness procedures were followed before the ride began.
Local authorities have classified the case as a production safety accident, and the park has been ordered to suspend operations pending investigation. Officials are now reviewing whether mechanical failure, improper securing of safety equipment, or operational negligence contributed to the fatal outcome.
The tragedy has also reignited broader concerns about extreme adventure attractions in China, with safety experts calling for stricter enforcement, redundant safety systems, and tighter oversight to prevent similar incidents in the future.
