Two Men Arrested Over RM26,000 Jewellery Theft At Jerantut Gold Shop

Date:

Police have arrested two men believed to be involved in a jewellery theft case at a gold shop in Jerantut on April 28, authorities said.

Jerantut acting police chief Deputy Superintendent Arshad Ayob said the suspects, aged 23 and 63, were detained last Monday at about 4pm in separate raids conducted in the Chow Kit area of Kuala Lumpur.

Police also recovered several stolen items, including gold bracelets and rings of various designs, with an estimated value of about RM26,000.

Other items seized included a motorcycle, mobile phone, bank cards and clothing believed to be linked to the case to assist investigations.

Authorities said preliminary checks showed both suspects had no prior criminal records, while initial urine screenings tested negative for drugs.

The case is being investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code for theft in a building.

Earlier reports on May 1 indicated that police were tracking a suspect who allegedly stole jewellery from a gold shop after posing as a customer intending to buy an engagement ring.

The suspect was believed to have fled with several pieces of jewellery taken from the display counter shortly after entering the premises.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
